When does winter service have to be carried out?
There are precise regulations in each municipality as to when winter service must take place. But as a homeowner, you don't have to stress about setting the stopwatch.
There was the following case before the Schleswig Higher Regional Court: The gritting obligation began at 8 a.m. and the accident occurred at 8:02 a.m.The verdict: No claim for damages because it does not have to start at a specific point (OLG Schleswig, AZ: 11 U 174/01).
The usual times at which the obligation to clear and scatter applies are:
on weekdays 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; on Sundays and public holidays 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. (From these times the sidewalk must be free of ice and snow.)
