Assembly in new buildings
The windows are installed vertically and in alignment.
The distances between the attachment points and the masonry are defined and depend on the window system used (wooden, plastic or aluminum windows).
Different types of installation and fastening systems are possible in new buildings. The position of the window within the reveal can also be optimized in accordance with the EnEV.
The vapor diffusion-tight seal on the inside is usually carried out using vapor diffusion-tight foils or with vapor-tight adhesive material.
Most films can be used as a carrier for subsequent trades such as plasterers.
Assembly in the old building
The windows are installed vertically and in alignment.
In contrast to new buildings, the position of the windows is usually dictated by the position of the existing windows.
Existing roller shutter systems also specify the position of the window in the reveal. The sealing in old buildings is not as flexible as in new buildings.
In order to be able to carry out high-quality foil sealing inside and outside of old buildings, parts of the plaster must be removed in order to be able to attach the foils to the raw masonry.This is rarely in the interests of the residents. Therefore, in old buildings, we either seal, strip or plaster in a permanently elastic manner using vapor-tight adhesive material, or seal the inside and outside with a permanently elastic seal.
Seals in general
The following requirements generally apply to the three assembly levels “inside”, “middle” and “outside”:

The internal seal separates the indoor and outdoor climate and must be vapor diffusion-tight.

The middle seal between the window frame and the house wall must be completely filled with heat-insulating material.

The outer seal serves as a weather protection layer and is permanently waterproof to driving rain and at the same time open to vapor diffusion

The seal against room moisture must always be arranged on the room side.
